New sensory storytelling in Sussex  

THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ

Disabilities theatre charity, Head2Head Sensory Theatre, has released tickets to The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz – a new sensory storytelling experience taking place at Grove Park Primary School in Crowborough, East Sussex TN6 1BN on Tuesday 31 May. 

Journey to the land of Oz and share in Dorothy’s adventures in this sensory take on the classic novel.  Meet Tik-Tok the digi bird, make friends with the Lion, The Scarecrow and the Tin Man and click your sparkly heels together to return back home to Kansas in time for tea. 

Using a mix of simple narrative and Makaton signing, our highly engaging sensory storyteller will create an easy to follow and playful experience so everyone can be a part of the story.  

Filled with sensory moments, this immersive and fun experience is suitable for ages 2+.  

Families will be provided with a free Resource Pack. 

Each session lasts 60 minutes (30 minutes storytelling and 30 minutes craft activities).  
Choose from 4 performance times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

ODIE’S ODD ODYSSEY

Our much-loved Odie and his crew will be sailing back to Sussex, to entertain children and families this May Bank Holiday (30 and 31 May) at Manor Green School in Crawley, RH11 0DX. 

Based on Homer’s The Odyssey, Odie’s Odd Odyssey is a ‘roaming’ sensory show created especially for a special needs’ audiences but accessible to all. 

Join Odie, and his crew, on their treacherous journey home to Ithaca by ship. Embark on a mythical journey through ancient lands. Get ready to be entranced by the magical flowers, escape from Cyclops, turn into a pig, lured by sirens and battle Scylla the 3-headed beast. 

Makaton signed throughout, with plenty of singing, every scene is designed to be performed alongside the audience, not in front of them, making this a fully immersive, interactive and sensory experience – filled with sensory moments to captivate the audience.  

Is your child nervous about going to the theatre? Head2Head is also hosting a FREE familiarisation session on Monday 30 May at 12pm (before the show) to help children get comfortable with theatre environments. 

Shows will performed on Monday 30 May at 2pm and Tuesday 31 May 11.15am & 2pm
