Weekly drama classes help young adults with learning disabilities gain confidence

As Head2Head Sensory Theatre celebrates its 20th anniversary, the Surrey charity is relaunching its popular weekly A Sense of Fun drama classes for teenagers and young adults with SEND, autism and learning disabilities.
Taking place every Thursday at The Barn Hub in Crowhurst Lane End, near Oxted, the inclusive sessions use drama, movement, music, storytelling and sensory activities to help participants build confidence, improve communication skills and develop lasting friendships in a safe and supportive environment.
Designed for young people aged 13 and over, the sessions are suitable for those with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, sensory processing differences, and other additional needs. No previous drama experience is required, with activities adapted so everyone can take part at their own pace.
Head2Head Sensory Theatre has been providing accessible theatre and creative opportunities for disabled people and those with additional needs for 20 years, supporting hundreds of families across East Surrey and beyond.
Founder and CEO Anni Rhodes-Steere said: “Drama gives people the opportunity to express themselves, discover new skills and grow in confidence. Our classes are about far more than performing – they’re about making friends, having fun and ensuring everyone feels valued and included.”
The Autumn term runs from 10 September to 10 December 2026 (excluding half term on 22 and 29 October), with weekly sessions held every Thursday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at The Barn Hub, Crowhurst Lane End, near Oxted.
The fully accessible venue offers free parking, a sensory room and Changing Places facilities, welcoming those from Oxted, Caterham, Redhill, Reigate, Warlingham, Lingfield, Godstone, Whyteleafe and the surrounding areas.
