Meet Ciara Lawrence, Trustee of Head2Head Theatre and one of the UK’s most influential disability campaigners with a learning disability. Ciara writes and campaigns on disability issues with articles featured in national newspapers and most recently – Able Magazine.

Every month Ciara will be bringing us her latest thoughts and in a new blog slot called ‘Ciara’s Corner’.

Alongside supporting Head2Head, Ciara is Mencap’s Big Plan Engagement Lead and also a volunteer and the first trustee with a learning disability at the Sunnybank Trust. Her passion – to improve the way disabled people are portrayed and represented in the media.

Ciara says: “I was diagnosed with a learning disability when I was 10 years old. I was always told that I couldn’t do things or that I would not achieve anything. I am now 38 and have a wonderful 16-year career at Mencap, am married and I want to prove that with the right support you can do anything like anyone else.”

You can read more about Ciara in her article in Able Magazine.

When she is not busy chasing the latest Twitter conversations, you will find her busy interviewing top celebrities for her Pink Sparkle Podcast.
